This is a portion of a larger plein air piece I painted a few years ago on Prior Lake while my husband and son did some ice fishing. We are having sub-zero weather here in Minnesota, and I decided to stay warm inside my studio. Rummaging through some older paintings I found this one and cropped it. A simple snow scene with the soft colors of a late winter day, it makes me want to sip hot chocolate in front of the fire.

Clarinet

CLARINET
First Painting of 2016

This old clarinet has been in my studio for years begging to be painted but I didn't have the strength to tackle all the hardware. At last I pulled it off the shelf, posed it next to my easel, and put on a Benny Goodman CD and painted away. And, yes, I did play the clarinet "back in the day".
