30 Paintings in 30 Days!

30 Paintings in 30 Days!
January 1-30, 2015
(whew!)
And here they all are....

This has been an exciting adventure for me. I learned to make decisions quickly, paint fast, and mostly to just have fun with it instead of overthinking things. I stretched myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, and I now have 30 brand new paintings that probably wouldn't exist if I hadn't accepted this challenge.

I have some larger painting projects to complete, but will keep up with this exercise of painting daily, and will be posting regularly (but not daily) on my online painting gallery (click here)

Thank you for your continued support!

A Toast To You!

A Toast To You!

Thanks for following my self-imposed "boot camp" daily challenge of 30 paintings in 30 days. I made my goal! Fast & furious, sometimes doing 2 a day just to allow for other commitments (teaching, eating, sleeping...) I promise to keep painting and posting, just not as often. I have a large commission to work on and a couple of larger studio works to be completed. Thanks to those who purchased my paintings, and thank you all for all the uplifting, supportive comments. I have enjoyed this journey. Oh, and here's a nod to my brother who is recovering from successful cancer surgery -- John, remember you almost burned the house down with one of these toasters! : )

Mike's Baby Cup

It seemed fitting with my husband's birthday approaching that I paint something to commemorate his early days. This little silver mug was his when he was a baby. It is also the smallest painting in this series.

LUU COOKIES!!!

Luu Cookies

My friend Deb makes the MOST AMAZING chocolate chunk cookies! Well-known by the local swim crowd (and their parents!) when she offered to bring me some cookies to paint, I couldn't resist. She delivered them still warm from the oven and I went directly to my studio to paint today's entry. Oh, and I couldn't resist the cookies, either. Delicious! Thanks, Deb!

Open Me First!

A few years ago some good friends surprised me with the gift of a Tiffany bracelet. I proudly wear the bracelet, but also saved the box and bag (they're almost as much fun to look at.) They became my paint subjects today.

Take Out

Take Out

I have always loved the the perfectly folded crisp edges of a Chinese take out container, and the ingenious way they are put together. Its timeless design is perfect! The materials might have changed over the years, but the shape remains unchanged from when I was a little girl. I placed the container center stage with a strong light on the left creating nice cast shadows to show off the beauty and geometry of this simple object.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

This Raggedy Ann was my mother's beloved doll. After being hidden away for many years in a box of my mother's things, she now sits in a place of honor on a shelf in my studio. She was the perfect model for this painting, hardly even moved, and she was so patient while I scrutinized her form, compared values, mixed colors, and applied paint to canvas.
