About Me

From the time I could hold a pencil I made marks. Marks on anything and everything. I couldn't wait to make marks. At times those marks got me in trouble.

After a grown-up career in advertising I followed my heart's desire and studied classical painting in the methods of the old masters. Some of my favorites are Sargent, Sorolla, Bouguereau, Degas, Cassatt, Vermeer and Zorn (not necessarily in that order.)

You can find me in my studio working on a still life, portrait commission, or studio landscape, and I like to have two or more paintings going at a time. I also venture outside to paint plein air (in the open air). While I favor oil and pastel, I am equally inspired by a beautifully executed graphite or pen and ink drawing. I teach art classes and workshops in the Twin Cities metro area.

Currently I am the President of Lake Country Pastel Society. I've been a featured artist in many venues, won numerous awards, and my paintings are in several private collections.
